Indian Intel Agencies Red-Flag 52 Apps Including TikTok, UC Browser

Indian Intelligence agency has given the Indian Government a list of 52 apps liked to China and advised the government to block them or advise people to stop using them. Agencies flagged these apps because they extracting a large amount of data and sending it outside of India. 

In the list of 52 apps, there are some popular apps also as TikTok, UC Browser, Xender, SHAREit, and Zoom. It also includes Xiaomi’s Mi Store and Mi Community apps which come bundled with the Xiaomi mobile phones. 

According to the Hindustan Times, The recommendation of the intelligence agencies on the ban of apps has also been supported by the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS). Officials say that many apps, both on Android and iOS, that have been created by Chinese developers or have been launched by companies with Chinese links, can potentially be used as spyware.

According to an official quoted by the report, “The discussions on the recommendations are continuing”. the government will investigate each app separately before deciding what to do.
