Huawei Will Let You Unlock Bootloader Of Mate 30 Pro

Huawei has unveiled their next set of flagships Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro. It has top of the line spec but it lacks in one place that it will not have Google Services and apps in the western markets. To battle aganist this, we had expected that Huawei would do something. One of the solutions that Huawei has come up with is to give the ability to the user to unlock the bootloader.

Huawei CEO Richard Yu has talked with the journalists about the Google situation. It that conversation he made one thing clear that user will not be able to sideload Google apps and services in the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro. So an unlocked bootloader is the only way to sideload those apps.

But according to the current policies, a user can’t unlock their bootloader of Huawei devices.  Huawei has said in past that it will give the user “more security.” “We limited [bootloader unlocking] because we wanted to guarantee more security for consumers. But this time we will leave more freedom for the consumers so they can do more customization by themselves. So we are planning to let consumers do that.” said Yu.

But he has not said about the process at all. Whether it will be unlocked out of the box or user will have to that manually we don’t know that yet. But the most important thing is that the Mate 30 devices’ bootloaders will be unlockable. Unfortunately, unlocking a bootloader and sideloading apps may still be something the average consumer doesn’t understand. So we have to wait and see how users will react to this.
