Asus has officially launched its ZenFone 8 Series. The series consists of two devices- the Zenfone 8 and the Zenfone 8 Flip. Although they belong to the same series, they stand on a different spectrum in terms of design. The size difference is also pretty significant. Zenfone 8 brings a very simple design, while Zenfone 8 Flip retails its predecessor flip camera design.

Asus Zenfone 8 features a 5.9-inch (2400 × 1080 pixels) Full HD+ E4 AMOLED display. It has a 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, HDR 10+ with a 20:9 aspect ratio. The display can go up to 1100 nits peak brightness and covers 112% of DCI-P3 Color Gamut. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. The display has a punch hole at the top left corner to house the front-facing camera.
Zenfone 8 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 with Adreno 660 GPU. The device is available in 6GB / 8GB LPDDR5 6400MHz RAM with 64GB (UFS2.1) or 128GB (UFS 3.1) storage, 8GB / 16GB LPDDR5 6400MHz RAM with 256GB (UFS 3.1) storage options.
Zenfone 8 has a dual-camera setup in the back consists of a 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor with 0.8μm pixel size, f/1.8 aperture, and a 12MP f/2.2 Sony IMX363 ultrawide sensor which also acts as a 4cm macro sensor means it has a Dual Pixel autofocus. The primary sensor has Optical Image Stabilization or OIS. The selfie camera on the front uses the new 12MP IMX663 sensor, also with Dual Pixel AF.
Asus Zenfone 8 a 4,000mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 4.0 and a 30W power adapter supplied in the box. On the audio side, Asus Zenfone 8 has some impressive spec. Asus has provided triple microphones with OZO Audio Zoom and its in-house Noise Reduction technologies which aims to enhance audio recording on the ZenFone 8. It has a 3.5mm audio jack, two linear speakers with dual Cirrus Logic mono amps (CS35L45), and Dirac HD Sound support.
On the connectivity side, Zenfone 8 has support for 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ax 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou, Galileo(E1+E5a), QZSS(L1+L5), NavIC(L5), USB Type-C, NFC. It is the first Asus device to have IP68 water and dust resistance rating. Zenfone 8 runs Android 11 out of the box with ZenUI 8 skin.

Asus Zenfone 8 Flip features a 6.67-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) 90Hz Samsung AMOLED display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. The display can go up to 1000 nits peak brightness and it covers 10% DCI-P3, 105% NTSC color gamut. The display panel is also HRD 10+ certified and protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 6.
Asus Zenfone 8 Flip is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 with Adreno 660 GPU. The device has up to 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 storage which can be expandable via MicroSD card up to 2TB.
Asus Zenforn 8 Flip has a triple rotating camera setup consists of a 64MP Sony IMX686 f/1.8 primary sensor along with a 12MP f/2.2 Sony IMX 363 ultrawide sensor, and an 8MP telephoto shooter with 3x optical zoom. The rotating camera doubles as the selfie camera when switching towards the front.
Asus Zenfone 8 Flip packs a 5000 mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 4.0. Just like the ZenFone 8, the ZenFone 8 Flip also comes with triple microphones along with OZO Audio Zoom and Asus’ Noise Reduction technologies. The smartphone also has dual stereo speakers with Dirac HD Sound. On the connectivity side it has support for 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6/ 6E, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS/ A-GPS/ NavIC, NFC, FM radio, and a USB Type-C port.
Price and Availability
The ASUS Zenfone 8 comes in Obsidian Black and Horizon Silver colors. The price starts at EUR 599 (roughly Rs. 53,200) for the 6GB + 128GB storage variant. The phone also has an 8GB + 128GB storage model at EUR 669 (roughly Rs. 59,400), and a 16GB + 256GB storage option at EUR 799 (roughly Rs. 71,000). ZenFone 8 is initially available for purchase in Europe and Taiwan. The phone will be available in other regions too, more details soon.
The ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip comes in Galactic Black and Glacial Silver colors, is priced at 799 Euros (US$ 965 / Rs. 71,040 approx.) for 8GB RAM with a 256GB storage version. It will roll out in Europe soon.
