Last year Indian govt ban a lot of Chinese apps. Some of the famous apps like PUBG and TikTok were among those banned apps. PUBG returned to India last month as BGMI. Now TikTok wants to follow in the same footstep and wanted to return to India as TickTock. Tipster Mukul Sharma first shared it on Twitter.
The application status can be accessed via the Controller General of Patents, Designs, and TradeMarks website. It was filed on July 6 and the service description reads “hosting multimedia entertainment content, hosting of multimedia and interactive applications.” Meaning it should be similar to banned TikTok.
But this doesn’t guarantee an Indian launch soon. The Treadmark is currently “marked for exam” on the website. Not to mention ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, being a China-based company it will face security scrutiny from the govt official. Even if they manage to launch it in India but host content on Chinese servers, it might get banned again.
