A forum which hackers and cybercriminal use to sell Instagram and Twitter account information has been hacked by another hacking group. This incident proved that even hackers can get hacked.
The group that is hacked is named OGusers. This group is frequently used by cyber-criminals who specialize in stealing user accounts and phone numbers, has been hacked by a rival group who revealed the email addresses, passwords, and even private messages of almost 113,000 users.
On May 12, the administrator of OGusers explained an outage to forum members by saying a hard drive failure had erased several months’ worth of private messages, forum posts, and prestige points, and that he’d restored a backup from January 2019. But on May 16 the administrator, the rival hacking forum called Raidforum had announced that he uploaded the database of OGusers and available for download for free.
Omnipotent, administrator of Raidforum said in the post, “On the 12th of May 2019 the forum ogusers.com was breached [and] 112,988 users were affected. I have uploaded the data from this database breach along with their website source files. Their hashing algorithm was the default salted MD5 which surprised me, anyway the website owner has acknowledged data corruption but not a breach so I guess I’m the first to tell you the truth. According to his statement, he didn’t have any recent backups so I guess I will provide one on this thread lmfao.”
Following the hack OGusers reportedly changed the forum’s rules preventing many from deleting their accounts completely leaving the site. In our inspection, we have found that the hacked data includes OGUSERS usernames, passwords hashed with the MD5 algorithm, emails, IP addresses, source code, website data, and private messages.
OGusers are involved in SIM swapping to hijack people’s phone numbers. Once in control of their phone number, they’d use that to reset passwords on the target’s Instagram, for example, and then sell the username on the forum. Now after this database law enforcement officers will get a very good chance to arrest them.
