Amazon Bans TikTok From Employee Phones

[Update]: Amazon says that it will not ask employees to remove TikTok from their mobile. In a statement to various media outlet it said, ”This morning’s email to some of our employees was sent in error. There is no change to our policies right now with regard to TikTok.” But why this error happened they didn’t mention that.

Amazon in an internal email to employees told to delete TikTok from their phones. Amazon has given security risk as the reason for this decision. Failing to so and the employee will lose access to Amazon Email. Accessing TikTok from company laptops is still permitted. The email is obtained by many media outlet and also many employees post it on Twitter. 

The email was sent by the Amazon IT team reads, “Due to security risks, the TikTok app is no longer permitted on mobile devices that access Amazon email. If you have TikTok on your device, you must remove it by 10-Jul to retain mobile access to Amazon email. At this time, using TikTok from your Amazon laptop browser is allowed.”

A TikTok spokesperson responded to Amazon’s by saying, “While Amazon did not communicate to us before sending their email, and we still do not understand their concerns, we welcome a dialogue so we can address any issues they may have and enable their team to continue participating in our community.”

TikTok is current under heat from many fronts. Recently Indian govt ban TikTok in the country. Also recently Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in an interview that the US is looking at banning TikTok in the country.
