Apple started producing iPhone 11 in India starting from last month. Now a new report suggests that Apple will be manufacturing their upcoming flagship iPhone 12 in India as well. A report by Bussiness Standard reveals that Apple supplier Wistron may start producing iPhone 12 in India.
Another report has revealed that Apple will be making the iPhone 12 in a new facility at Narsapura near Bangalore in Kolar district. The plant in Bangalore will reportedly create 10,000 jobs, of which 2,000 people have already been recruited. As per the Karnataka Industrial Policy, 70 percent of the jobs should be given to locals, which means at least 7,000 people from Karnataka will be employed at the plant. The company is believed to have already recruited about 2,000 people so far.
Apple is also reportedly planning to make new iPhone SE (2020) in India by the end of 2020. All of this decision from Apple is good for the country and PM Modi’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ vision. It is also the effort from Apple to diversify its supply chain and not to depend only on China for manufacturing.
