Motorola Edge, Motorola Edge+ With 90Hz Display, Triple Rear Cameras Launched

It took Motorola four years to launch its new next flagship smartphone. Motorola Edge and Edge+ is here. These two phone feature curve display with hole-punch design and triple rear cameras.

Motorola Edge+ has a curved 6.7-inch full-HD+ OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ certification. It has an in-display fingerprint sensor like all other flagships these days. There’s a small punch-hole cutout for to house the front camera. Curved edges on the display have some features like double-tap on them to open apps or shortcuts or it can be used to display virtual buttons in games. 

Motorola Edge+ is powered by the latest and greatest Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865. Edge+ have 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage. It does support 5G, Bluetooth 5.1, WiFi 6, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BDS. Motorola Edge+ comes equipped with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging, 15W wireless charging, and 5W reverse wireless charging. 

At the back, Motorola Edge+ has a triple camera setup which sits in a vertical line at the left top backside of the device. The main shooter is a 108MP sensor with f/1.8 and has support for Optical Image Stabilization or OIS.  The main camera is capable of recording 6K videos at 30fps. There is also a 16MP ultra-wide camera with an f/2.2 and 117-degree field of vision. Edge+ includes an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom which also has OIS. Motorola has also provided a Time of Flight (ToF) sensor. At the front, there is a 25MP camera with f/2.0 which sits in the punch hole cut out.

Motorola Edge is a slimmed-down version of Motorola Edge+. It also has the same a curved 6.7-inch full-HD+ OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ certification. It also has an in-display fingerprint sensor and a punch-hole cutout for the front camera. The curve edge has the same features as the Motorola Edge+.

Motorola Edge is powered by the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G. Although mid-range chip still retains the 5G connectivity. Moto Edge has 6GB RAM and 128GB of onboard storage which is expandable up to 1TB through MicroSD card. Moto Edge is equipped with a 4,500mAh battery with support for 18W TurboPower charging tech, but no wireless charging support. 

At the back, Motorola Edge also has triple camera setup. The main shooter is a 64MP sensor with f/1.8. It is assisted by the f/2.2 16MP wide-angle camera and 8MP telephoto lens with f/2.4. The ultrawide camera has a 117 degree of field of vision. Edge also has the Time of Flight (ToF) sensor. In the front Motorola Edge has a 25MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. 

Other Features

Motorola Edge and Motorola Edge+ run stock Android 10. But it does have some additional software add-on for the curve edge features. Motorola is also introducing a My UX hub in the Moto app that allows users to customize fonts, colors, icon shapes, and fingerprint sensor animations. 

Pricing and Availability

Motorola Edge+ will be available in Smoky Sangria and Thunder Grey color options. The Edge+ is priced at $999 (roughly Rs. 76,400). It will go on sale from May 14 via Verizon. 

While Motorola Edge will available first in Europe. It will go on sale from May in Italy at the price of €699 or $757 or roughly Rs 58000. Motorola Edge will release in the US later this year. In the coming months, Motorola Edge will begin to roll out across selected markets in Latin America and the Asia Pacific. It will be available in Midnight Magenta and Solar Black color option.
