Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone giant, has been making waves in the tech world with its upcoming Redmi K70 series. Anticipation has been building as leaks and rumors regarding these devices continue to surface. Redmi K70 Pro is rumored to be one of the first phones to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which is set to debut in October this year. The Redmi K70 series is expected to include three models: Redmi K70e, Redmi K70, and Redmi K70 Pro. Now, the Pro version has appeared on Geekbench with the model number 23117RK66C.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3: A Mixed Bag?
One of the most talked-about features of the Redmi K70 series is the expected use of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. However, as reported by Source 1, early benchmark scores have left some scratching their heads. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 posted somewhat underwhelming scores of 1,100 in single-core and 5,150 in multi-core performance.
It’s important to note that these benchmarks were conducted using an older version of Geekbench, and these results are likely based on engineering samples. This raises questions about the accuracy of these scores and the potential for significant performance improvements in the final products. It should also be noted that earlier it was rumored that the same SoC reached an impressive multi-core score of 7400 in Geekbench 6.
Redmi K70 Rumored Specification
The Redmi K70 Pro is rumored to sport a 2K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a possible punch-hole cutout. Powering the phone could be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, while it’s expected to run on Android 13-based MIUI 14 OS right out of the box. The device might offer up to 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM and storage options of up to 1TB of UFS 4.0.
It’s anticipated to house a sizable 5,120mAh battery with 120W fast charging capabilities. While details about its camera setup remain limited, there’s speculation that the Redmi K70 Pro could be the first in the Redmi K-series to feature a telephoto sensor. Additionally, the smartphone is rumored to include an in-screen fingerprint scanner, and its connectivity options may encompass 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a USB Type-C port for charging.
