TikTok Crosses 1 Billion Installs On Google Play Store

Chinese company ByteDance owned TikTok is one most used viral video platforms in the world. Last year in February it crossed 1 billion installs in Android and iOS combined. Now it has crossed 1 billion downloads in the Google Playstore alone.

Apple doesn’t reveal the number of installs on the App Store, but TikTok is currently ranked fourth among entertainment apps. TikTok has also defeated Facebook and WhatsApp as the most downloaded non-gaming app.

We don’t know the country-wise number but India is one of the largest markets for the app which comprised 29.5% of the total downloads in March. Despite the various controversies tied with it because of some contents found on the platform, there is no sign of a slowdown. The app even banned in India for a couple of weeks. Later the banned lifted as the company promised it will censor the explicit content on its platform.
