AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6 Core CPU Benchmark Destroys Intel CPU

At the time of the launching of Ryzen 3000 CPU, AMD had shown a lot of benchmark for Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 9 but they had not mentioned any benchmark score of Ryzen 5. Now many independent sources are showing the benchmark result of Ryzen 5 3600 CPU benchmark. The result shows Ryzen 5 3600 is one of the best CPUs for sub $300 category.

Specification Of Ryzen 5 3600

AMD Ryzen 5 3600 is the latest 3rd gen Ryzen offering from AMD. It is based on 7nm FinFET technology from TSMC and built on new ZEN 2 architecture. It has 6 cores and 12 threads with a base clock of 3.6 GHz and boosts clock of 4.2 GHz with a TWP of 65W only. It has a total of 35MB cache memory. It will be available from July 7, 2019, at a price of $199.

Geekbench V4 Benchmark

Geekbench is a synthetic cross-platform benchmarking platform. It scores based on single-core and multi-core performance, and workloads that simulate real-world scenarios. Twitter user TUM_APISAK shared two entries so far. One entry is performed on an ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Plus motherboard while the other has been done on the ASUS Prime X470-PRO motherboard. Both configurations have produced a different result. But the single core and multicore score is almost similar.

The X570 configuration has scores 5390 in single-core and 26371 in multi-core. The system has used the Asus TUF Gaming X570 Plus Motherboard and 16GB of RAM. While the X470 configuration has scored 5358 in single-core and 27485 in multi-core. The system used the Asus Prime X470-Pro Motherboard and 16GB of RAM.

For comparison, the first gen Ryzen 7 1800X scores on an average 4400 points in single and 24000 points in multi-core benchmarks. While Intel i7 8700K scores an average 5400 points in single and 25000 points in the multi-core benchmarks. Last Ryzen 5 2600 has a score of 4700 points in single & 23000 points in multi-core benchmarks. The performance increase from Zen and Zen+ to Zen 2 architecture is very impressive.

UserBenchmark Score

Benchmark score of AMD Ryzen 5 3600 is also seen in other benchmarking platform called UserBenchmark. The benchmark result is found by the Reddit user Teh_Hummer. Looking at the UserBenchMark results, the 107 percent score puts this current entry-level 3rd gen Ryzen desktop processor on a par with the Intel Core i7-8700K and AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X in this set of tests. That is surely impressive for the suggested retail price.

UserBenchmark Score

In terms of performance, the i7 9700K and i7 8700K are almost similar. Because  Coffee Lake is using the same architecture as Kaby Lake. Whereas the new architecture and 7nm processing node have provided Ryzen 5 3600 enough juice to compete and sometimes win the Intel Chips. And we have to keep in mind that the Ryzen 5 3600 has lower TDP of 65W compared to 95W of Intel’s CPU and the price is also lower than the Intel one.

Gaming Benchmark

A user from Chiphell Forums has provided a gaming benchmark. He has compared the Ryzen 5 3600 against the Intel i7 8700 in PUBG. He has used DDR4-3000 MHz RAM & GeForce RTX 2080 Ti graphics card for both systems. The user reports that he saw an average FPS gain of 6.3% and a maximum FPS gain of 10%.

Gaming was the one sector where Intel always has dominated. But the initial benchmark is suggesting that the Team Red (AMD) can give Team Blue (Intel) a hard in this sector also. In the coming days, we can more benchmark result of these newer CPUs. Till then carry on the discussion, who is best?
