Government Takes U-Tern Prohibited Sell Of Non-Essential In E-Commerce Platform

In an earlier report, we told you that from 20th April you can order non-essential items like smartphones, Refrigerators or garments through the various e-commerce platforms. But the government of India Sunday issued an order to prohibit the sale of non-essential items through e-commerce platforms during the ongoing lockdown. The decision comes four days after the government decided to allow the sale of non-essential.

Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla issued the order on the behalf of the Indian government. The orders say that “E-commerce companies. Vehicles used by e-commerce operators will be allowed to ply with the necessary permissions” clause is excluded from the previously issued guidelines.

Although there is no prohibition for E-commerce platforms to sell essential commodities such as food, pharmaceutical, and medical devices. The central govt has requested states to ensure free movement and operation of the entire supply chain for essential items to be delivered through e-commerce channels.

At this moment we don’t know the reason behind this decision. We will update this article with more information as it becomes available.
