The government of India is working on a chatbot similar to Amazon’s Alexa or Google’s Google Assistant. The aim is to provide e-governance services to the public. The National E-Governance Division of Ministry of Electronics and IT has invited proposals to build the platform.
It will be a multi-language, artificial intelligence-based conversational platform that will analyze sentiments and intent, collect and analyze data to give a personalized experience to users. The platform will be deployed into the ‘UMANG’ platform which hosts various apps that provide government services to citizens.
In the proposal document, the govt has said, “The platform should be able to provide assistance with general tasks, including but not limited to availing services of government and available on the UMANG platform such as registration, login, reset the password, department service relation information, event, (and) new launch…etc.”
The chatbot should be able to turn speech into a textual input and turn text into speech. The platform needed to have deep learning capabilities that can be used for the discovery and recommendation of eligible schemes and services to the users. It should also recommend users best-fit schemes and services available in the government domain based on his/her profile.
Govt has used Google’s Dialogflow platform to explain the concept of interactions with the UMANG app using voice. The term of the project will be four years from the date it goes live.
