Huawei, the Chinese telecom giant considered as a security threat in the US. But Huawei gets a ray of hope when Huawei signed a deal with Russian telecom operator MTS to develop a 5G network in the country over the course of the next year. The agreement was signed on the sidelines of a meeting between Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Russian president Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

In a statement, MTS said that the will see “ “the development of 5G technologies and the pilot launch of fifth-generation networks in 2019-2020”. Russian leader Vladimir Putin has said that cooperation between Russia and China is now “at an unprecedently high level,” and the Chinese president also expressed the same feeling. Huawei’s Guo Ping, one of the company’s chairmen on rotation, said he was “very happy” with the agreement “in an area of strategic importance like 5G”.

The deal between MTS and Huawei comes at a time when Huawei is facing a difficult. The US already ban Huawei from doing business with Huawei. Partner like Google restricted Huawei’s Android license, Intel and ARM also left partnership with Huawei.

The situation for Huawei is turning well for the company for this month. SD Association and WiFi alliance have brought the company back into their member’s lists and now this big deal with MTS will at least give some sigh of relief. But until the US imposed a ban on Huawei is sorted out, the company will remain in trouble realm.
