China is creating a list called “unreliable entity list” for US-based companies as a countermeasure of the US’s move to block shipments of semiconductors to Huawei Technologies. China could label Apple as an “unreliable entity”.
All of this started in 2018 when heads of the US intelligence agency warned people not to buy Huawei phones as poses security and privacy threat. After that in 2019, Washinton added Huawei in the blacklist. Which not only restrict Huawei from selling smartphone in US but also pushed Google to pull support of Android OS update in Huawei. Although later some relaxation was made till today all-new Huawei phone ships without Google Apps.
The US also ban Huawei along with ZTE from supplying 5G equipment to the US telecom companies. But the situation got heated recently when the Trump administration on Friday moved to block global chip supplies to blacklisted telecoms equipment giant Huawei Technologies.
That’s why Bejing has come up with the “unreliable entity list” as a countermeasure against Washinton’s decision. The measures include launching investigations and imposing restrictions on U.S. companies such as Apple Inc, Cisco Systems Inc and Qualcomm Inc, as well as suspending purchases of Boeing Co airplanes.
