Google finally rolled out the free version of Google Stadia on Wednesday. Google is also providing free access to Google Stadia Pro to help those people who are locked in their homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Google is offering this offer to 14 countries and for two months. In the free Pro version, you will instantly get access to nine free games including the likes of GRID, Destiny 2: The Collection, and Thumper. Of course, you can buy more games if you want and they will remain yours even if you decided to cancel the Pro Subscription which will cost you $9.99 a month.
If you are an existing Pro subscriber then don’t feel bad about this, you don’t need to pay Pro subscription for the next two months. All players need is a Gmail address and a compatible controller or keyboard and mouse. You will not need any invitation code to open Stadia account but you will need to sign up for the free tier through the Google Stadia app for Android and iOS. When you are asked for invitation code just press continue without code button.
If you cancel Pro ties after two months then you will revert back to the free tier where will have only access to the games which you have brought, we will not allow any free games. And 4k gameplay and Dolby 5.1 sound will be downgraded to the 1080P gameplay and stereo sound.
Right now due to increased traffic on the platform, Google has decided to switch Pro accounts to 1080p streaming by default. But this just a setting and not a hard restriction. You can always go back 4K gameplay, all you need to do is change the settings from the app.
The 14 countries where this free tier is available are US, UK, Canada, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland. So if you are from any of these countries then you can give a shot to the Google Stadia.
