India Banned 118 More Chinese App Along With PUBG

Chinese app ban saga in India continues. Wednesday the Indian government has banned 118 more Chinese apps. In this list, the most notable name is of course PUBG. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has put out a release listing al the apps that are now banned in India.

In previous two instances, the Indian government has already banned 59 apps and 47 Chinese apps. This time the list of the banned apps includes PUBG mobile, PUBG mobile lite, WeChat Reading, Tencent Weiyun, etc. 

PUBG is one of the most popular mobile games in India. According to the reports, there are close to 33 million active PUBG players in India and the game receives almost  13 million daily users. Although at the time of writing PUBG is still working just fine. But as the past we have seen, surely the game will be removed from Play Store and App Store pretty soon.

According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the apps have been banned under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, on grounds that “they are engaged in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defense of India, the security of the state and public order. This decision is a targeted move to ensure safety, security, and sovereignty of Indian cyberspace.”
