Tor Browser Gets First Stable Release On Android

tor browser for android stable release

If you are concern about online privacy and security then chances are you might know about the Tor browser. Till now you would need Orbot/Orfox to connect to Tor network from your Android device. Now, you can directly connect to the Tor network through the Tor browser for Android. After almost eight months of beta testing, Tor finally released stable version 8.5 for Android.

Tor creates a funnel to redirect all the traffic through the Tor network. Your traffic bounces between nodes on the Tor network before arriving at its destination to maintain your anonymity and privacy and it also blocks trackers. The browser can bypass geographic restrictions. Tor is also used to access the Dark Web.

The Android version of Tor browser is not complete like the desktop one but it has enough feature to get you going. The Tor Project team has ensured there are no proxy bypasses and first-party isolation is enabled in the browser to protect users from cross-site tracking.

The Tor browser is based on Firefox v60. So the interface is nothing new for Firefox user,  there’s tabbed browsing, private mode, etc. Apart from this Android debut a couple of new features are also introduced. Like the new logos and user interface improvements. Now the security slider is separated from the Tor button. Mozilla is also currently working on finding a way to integrate the Tor protocol into Firefox. The feature is called Super Private Browsing Mode.

You can download the Tor browser from Play Store. If you find any bug or glitches you can report here.
